Notes on Multilingual ProductCart

There
are some levels of infrastructure built into ProductCart for supporting multiple
languages; however, to the best of my knowledge no one has ever been able to
actually do it. Here are the basic issues:

There are several
"languages" libraries called for in various contexts (not a big deal in and of
    itself)

There is a HUGE library of
content here that would need to be translated (say, into Spanish). The main
dictionary library has over 2000 lines. Then there's another hundred lines of so
for shipping and another hundred lines of so for BTO (which may not be needed if
one isn't running the BTO version, but I'm not certain). You would have to
commit yourself to doing the translation work here.

There are lots of gaps in
places that don't use the languages libraries and just have hard-coded English.
There is no easy way to find all of these; they would have to be ferreted out in
    situation.

There is no support for
swapping out graphics based on language. What's more, lots of graphics and icons
run through "constants" stored in the database. Let's say the stuff above could
be dealt with without too much pain ... this part -- having to find every icon
and button in situation and add in the language layer would require a huge
rewrite of the entire front end of the application. We'd have to be very smart
about this to find a way to do it so that the application wouldn't be all but
impossible to update for Service Packs and future version
    releases.

The design shell layer
(header & footer wrapper) has no support for this. That layer would have to
    be thought through.

I'm quite sure there are
other layers I haven't thought through yet too.

The big stumbling block is he datbase:

All of the category names &
descriptions and product names & descriptions. The Category Generation for
the navigation. The way bread crumbs are handled too. Not to mention any
possible Content Pages. There is no infrastructure for that.

This is
where I remember the whole concepts starts to break down
    badly.

Honestly, this would
require a budget of at least $10K-$15K to sort out based on what all I know will
have to be involved here. I do have some creative ideas that could provide a
foundation for the big stumbling block issue, though, and keep it towards the
low end of the range.

The really big challenge would be to do this and
not make impractical to merge in future Service Packs and version
Updates.

How to Configure your iPhone to Connect to your Email

The iPhone supports IMAP. IMAP will allow you to retrieve your emails from SmarterMail and leave the emails on the server. IMAP also allows for folder support.

Follow these steps to create a SmarterMail IMAP connection for an iPhone.

On the iPhone, tap Settings.

Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

Tap Add Account.

Tap Other.

Tap Add Mail Account.

Complete the Name, Address (email address), Password and Description fields.

Click Next.

Ensure IMAP is selected.

Enter your incoming mail server information:

Hostname is mail.your+domain.com

Username is your full email address

Password is the same password used to access webmail.

Enter your outgoing mail server information:

Hostname is generally mail.your+domain.com

Username is your full email address

Password is the same password used to access webmail.

Tap Save.

The iPhone will attempt to establish an SSL connection to your IMAP and SMTP servers. If this fails, you will see the prompt, "Do you want to try setting up the account without SSL?"

Tap No.

Tap Save.

When prompted, "This account may not be able to send or receive emails. Are you sure you want to save," tap Save.

Tap the account you just added (identified by your email address)

Scroll down and tap the SMTP button.

Select the server you just added, identified by the hostname from step 9.

Select OFF for Use SSL.

Select Password for Authentication

Select 587 for Server Port.

Tap the SMTP button to go back.

Tap your email address to go back.

Tap Advanced.

Scroll down to Incoming Settings.

Select OFF for Use SSL.

Select Password for Authentication.

Select 143 for Server Port.

Tap your email address to go back.

Tap Mail to go back.
